    ALCA Professional Framework

    Four layers exist within the ALCA Framework. These layers align well to existing research and efforts by established educational researchers and practitioners (e.g, Daggit, Reeves, Marzano, Clark, and others). The layers provide a very pragmatic and simple approach to discovering and applying with mastery professional competencies.

    Interaction between Framework Layers

    Cognitively moving through the different Framework Layers involves personal reflection and over time team reflections. As one moves toward the center it involves increased collaborative interaction on the part of a site or district's Professional Learning Community. The result leads to common implementation of a topic's basic research and concepts, tools, and plans.

    Each component of the Venn Diagram below involves, if not requires, a different cognitive orientation or application of the overlapping parts. As you move inward the parts build on each other to finally, one's PLC is actively engaging all elements and strategies in the using the topic's applications.

    Activities within the ALCA Framework

    The ALCA Professional Framework facilitates the identification, planning, and implementation of specific professional tasks or activities related to a particular professional topic of interest. The following Venn Diagram identifies in broad terms activities to consider as new professional or learning strategies are implemented within a Professional Learning Community.
