Forestry GIS is a geographical information system developed by the Wisconsin Forestry Department. It is free to distribute for educational purposes.

    This fGIS program is free for educational use. Download and unzip the folder. It will only work on PCs. This program file does not contain themes. Shapefiles form ArcView may be displayed as well as many graphic formates, SID files, and more. Projection must be set for all themes to be displayed correctly.

    Check out the tools such as the Unit Converter and flowchart options.

    Those that have Macs with the Intel chip might be able to run the program. Have not tested this.

    Presently there are multiple fGIS lessons that incorperate geometry using GIS.

    Goolge Earth and Cmap activities will be developed during the 06-07 school year.

    This zip file contains the fGIS program with male/female census bar graphs for all US counties. Population and land use are also reflected in data. Themes may be modified to represent any combination of census data by county.
