Suggestions

Again the ALCA site is a content development site with different resources being added over the next 1-2 months. You do have rights to setup your own classroom (Room) or simply use the resources made to embed in or share through your own static sites or APES Wiki site.

I sent out earlier a query about collaborating working on teacher made library of free response questions or/and MC type questions. This is still in the works ... am making templates and placing them in shared folders where any of us may duplicate and edit them for all to share. Again these questions can be linked from your own sites where your students can take and get a score at the end of taking the quiz. Also we can add guided responses if students get questions wrong.

FYI the Location resource has some possible benefits for GIS. "Place" specific data can be archived within a form you make on system and students may archive data for location as well as graphics. These or any resources may be added to the Location resource. Still working with programmer to get deg, min, sec added instead of decimal lat/long. Right now to get the Google Local map to work we have to used decimal form. There are web sites that convert until then.

Consider for field trips / events placed in the calendar resource, attaching checklist, outline, location resources to the event. Individual resources are varied and cool in themselves, but when you blend them it gets interesting. Again many of us have static sites already ... just consider the benefit of adding a calendar with these added resources....when the help is added in 2-4 weeks the scope of what can be done will be easier to see.

The 100mb, 200 resources, and room access is free to this group, but I do ask that you communicate suggestions for improving how site works to me directly so that I may share with the programmer GammaStream.com. Also am interested in others being co-moderators. Contact me. If someone reaches the 200 resource limit let me know. Sounds like a lot but I am reaching my 4000 limit...field trip pictures. :-) .... think I'll increase it to 500. It does force the issue of quality if limited. :-) Play with it....

Want to make sure all understand that for this group this is a content development/archive site in which content may be "pushed" to the APES Wiki site or to your own website. IF you have no online classroom, then you can by all means setup shop here. Make a new room and play with it. The online help is coming soon to help with this, but until then you can go ahead and make assignment (tasks) through the grade book (assessment), add calendar events, presentations, outlines, etc...
