Reviewing Data Research
Reviewing the research on data usage leads to one's understanding and the value of the following areas of continuous improvement:
- Is based on an analysis of student learning that compares the differences between actual student learning and standards for student learning (alignment)
- Encourages teachers to identify their own needs and develop learning experiences to meet those needs (empowerment)
- Is based on teachers' daily work
- Is organized around collaborative problem-solving (team building)
- Is on-going, with follow-up support for further learning
- Considers multiple sources of data, detailing student learning and teacher instructional practices
- Has opportunities for teachers to link theory to the underlying knowledge and skills they are learning (highly qualified teachers)
- Is connected to comprehensive change process focused on improved student learning
