Intermediate Level - World Languages

The Oklahoma State Board of Education has identified the study of languages (foreign, Native American, American Sign Language) as core curriculum along with science, mathematics, social studies, language arts, and the arts (visual art and general music). All districts are required to implement a sequential program of study of at least one language other than English in the curriculum. The State School Laws of Oklahoma 2001 state "Students must learn about cultures and environments – their own and those of others with whom they share the earth. Students, therefore, must study social studies, literature, languages, the arts, mathematics and science."
