Students will research, write, and illustrate text to be used in a pamphlet describing the human nervous system and the effects of harmfull substances on the system. The pamphlet will conclude with suggestions for prevention of abuse.

Teacher Goals

• Studetns will create a pamphlet describing the functions of a healthy nervous system, the effects of alcohol and drugs on the system, causes of substance abuse and its effect on the social life, and present ideas for prevention of drug abuse.

Steps

1. Introduction

   Obtain either a pamphlet or brochure and describe its layoutis and the composition of the text.

2. Discuss the contnet of the pamphlet.

   Using the rubric associated with this lesson descibe the requirements for the content of the pamphlet.
