Quick Overview of Comprehend Pro

This guide provides a quick overview of the major features of Comprehend Pro 08.

Steps

  1. Comprehend Welcome Page

After logging into Comprehend Pro, the first page displayed is the Welcome page ready for you to explore your data.

To view a particular data set:
    1. Click the 1) Select Data Set popup menu.
    2. Select the desired data set.
The desired data set is displayed in a data table.

If the desired data set is already selected, click the green DATA ANALYSIS link at the top of the page.
  2. Accessing the ALCA Web Site

The first task typically done is to access the data set to be analyzed. To do this:
    1. Click the Data Set popup menu.
    2. Select the desired data set.
A table of the selected data set appears.

  3. Filter Data

Select the desired filters to disaggregate the data. The data table displays the results as the filters are selected.

  4. Generate Reports

After selecting the desired data set and filters, select a report to generate a chart or graph of the data. You can select filter options while a report is displayed with changes being made in real time.
  5. Data Table Columns

Click the Add Column popup menu to select a desired data column to display in the table.
  6. Presentations

Two options are available for Comprehend Pro presentations.
    • Click the View Presentation popup menu to view an existing presentation.
    • Enter a presentation name and click the Add New button to add a new presentation.
Reports can be added as slides to a presentation by using presentation options found under each report.

  7. Student Groups

Two options are available in the Comprehend Pro Student Groups.
    • Click the View Student Group popup menu to view an existing student group. Viewing a student group displays the Student Group page. You can:
      • Delete the group.
      • Modify the name of the group.
      • Delete students from the group.
    • Enter a name for a new student group and click the Add New button
It may be necessary to select a different data sent and then return to the data set in which the Student Group applies. Students in a Student Group can be selected using the Students filter in the 2) Filter Data area.

To add students to a Student Group, locate and check the desired students in the Data Table. Then, at the bottom of the data table select the desired Student Group and click the Add button. The students are now a member of the student group.

  8. Math & Reading Reports

The Average OPI Score Comparisons report displays the OPI performance of a particular student class as they progress through school.

After the report is generated, select a desired grade (3). Then, select the year the students were at that grade (2005). With this example the first bar graph will display the data results for third grade students of the year 2005.

The following bar graphs illustrate the data for the same students as fourth graders in the year 2006 and as fifth grades in the year 2007.

Since the report uses data across data sets, data set-specific filters have no affect on the report.
