Object(ive) Writing



This creative writing activity focuses on a specific object, place, event, or artificat of some kind.  Writing is posted in a public location (e.g., in classroom, blog) for classmates to view and build on.
  1. Object

    Get access to an object (e.g., a physical object, image of a place, artifact).
  2. Writing Order

    Determine the order of individual students will be writing about the object.
  3. Writing Approach

    Unless otherwise indicated by teacher, no particular writing process or genre is required.  Writing is required to be focused on the object as well as incorporate previous posts.
  4. Sharing Writing

    There are different options for sharing the posts of which some are listed below.
    1. Post-its

      On poster board placed in room, affix sequence of student writings for public viewing.
    2. Online Communal Blog

      Teachers may upload an image, video, poem, map of a place or other artifact and turn on the comments feature for the resource.  Once turned on, they may share the link for students to begin their  creative writing (blog).
