Find the Fake

This post reading activity provides the student an opportunity to process the information from a reading selection at a higher level.  The game is to "trick" their peers with a false statement.
  1. Group

    Get into groups (four is recommended).
  2. Write Statements

    Individually, each student writes two true statements and one false state based on the content from the reading selection.  Write each statement on it's own index card.
  3. Find the Fake

    Within your group, pass out your statements to your peers and challenge them to find the fake.
  4. Group Selection

    From each group, select the "best" statement that will challenge the class.
  5. Examples


          Find the FAKE


    1.  Pentagons have 8 sides.

    2.  Pentagons have 5 sides.

    3.  The sum of the angles in a triangle is equal to 180 degrees.


     



          Find the FAKE


    1.  Two points define a line.

    2.  Every square is a rectangle.

    3.  A rhombus is never a square.
