This unique conference provides valuable information and discussions in five strands supporting your Professional Learning Community's (PLC) focus on Standards, Curriculum, and Assessments. All professional staff including administrators, curriculum and IT coordinators, counselors, and teachers will greatly benefit.

The conference sessions will be presented twice. To ensure your organization gets the most from the conference, a minimum of three participants is encouraged. In this way your team will benefit from all the sessions.

Below are summaries of the five Strands.

COMPREHEND
Session: Comprehend State Data
Session: Comprehend EPAS, WIDA

MAP
Session: Standards Mapping: Unwrapping Standards
Session: Standards Mapping: Wrapping Standards
ALCA is introducing Standards Mapping, a powerful process for unwrapping and then wrapping standards and objectives around any educational resource or process.  Discover how to use the Standards Mapping process to quickly and easily align your curriculum standards (K12) and Career Cluster Knowledge and Skills (Career Tech) to tasks, test items, rubrics, curriculum, instructional plans, and other resources.  Standards Mapping supports and simplifies a district’s existing or planned curriculum mapping efforts.

PLAN
Session: Planning a Standards-wrapped Task
Session: Planning a Standards-wrapped Unit
For planning to be successful, learning tasks have to address differentiation, scheduling, sequencing, aligned standards that are wrapped, resources, appropriate assessments that may include rubrics, pre, post, or common assessments, automated Response To Intervention (RTI), collaborative development and sharing, tracking instructional time, and parental or professional mentor involvement.
To simplify this discussion, these topics will be addressed using the ALCA Planner.

MANAGE

Session: To T-Learn, B-Learn or E-Learn with ALCA

COLLABORATE
Session: Micro-Collaboration (Individual + Friends)
Session: Macro-Collaboration (Multiple Teams Coordinated)
Collaboration can take on a broad range of activities.  If done well, it can lead to powerful learning and professional growth. In ALCA, collaboration can be individual such as sharing learning blogs and wikis.  It can also support professional teams and communities within district to state-wide initiatives.  Discover the broad range of possibilities that are practical and even fun as an ALCA member.
