Community Organizations:

What is ALCA?

The non-profit Aurora Learning Community Association (ALCA) is a collaboration of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) who comprehend, map, plan, and manage through the Seven Steps Forward. These seven steps focus on Data, Standards, Mapping, Planning, Assessment, Curriculum, and Strategies all tightly integrated through web-based services and site-based professional development and engagement.

ALCA services and training focus on helping school districts use their existing testing data to benefit student growth. Comprehend Pro, ALCA's web-based service, allows easy exploration of EPAS, OCCT, TEKS, WIDA, NWEA, and District Data Sets.

ALCA also supports schools and other educational institutions in moving their Professional Learning Community forward through using the Arch Platform, ALCA's Learning Community Management System.

Arch includes tight integration with:

BulletArrow.png A Learning Management System (i.e., Planner, grade management, course delivery).
BulletArrow.png A Content Management System (e.g., virtual locker for 20 different types of resources including eBooks).
BulletArrow.png Comprehend's Data Warehouse.
BulletArrow.png Web site development and hosting.
BulletArrow.png Online communications and collaboration.
BulletArrow.png A Professional Development Center (Professional self-assessment, competency-based goal planning, and mentoring).
BulletArrow.png Standards Mapping (Unwrapping standards and wrapping them around educational resources and strategies).
BulletArrow.png Assessment Management (development and delivery of formative and benchmark tests, rubrics, and portfolios).
BulletArrow.png Curriculum Management (development and delivery of eBooks, activities, learning tasks and units).

This eBook resource provides an overview of the activities and types of resources available in Arch.

Training is central to ALCA's efforts to support districts in the process of using data and services to support learning.  Learn more >>

All of these options occur within a highly collaborative online environment for sharing and support within and across member school districts and sites.
