Assessment
Assessment strategies including formative and summative assessments and common and benchmark assessments should be considered. This includes a diverse set of assessment strategies including rubrics, real- time (e.g., discussions, clickers, observations)learner and professional portfolios, and tests or quizzes all managed within a task Manager or grade book.
Assessments are addressed using the Arch-based Manager. Like the Planner, each Room includes the Manager which is used to manage room members (students) and the learning tasks assigned to them. The Room's learning tasks appear in both the room's Planner and Manager.
The Manager includes a robust grade book supporting the recording of student attendance, daily grades, automatic grading of student tests. and the formative assessment of student work (turned in online or off) using checkboxes or radio buttons in online rubrics and checklists. ExamView tests can be imported into Task resources and delivered to students for testing. You can also use the Arch-based Test resource to create Standards Mapped test items.
Rubric resources are highly flexible allowing you to create a rubric to address quality of student performance, a checklist for documenting task completion, or a single formative assessment containing both.
Another form of assessments include learner and professional work samples and portfolios. Learners and Professionals alike can document their learning and professional activities using the Portfolio resources. These can be self-assessed or evaluated by educators.
Within one Room, you can create one or more room sections to support multiple class periods for the same course. The result is the Room contains one Planner for the learning tasks but multiple grade books each for students within a particular class period.
